I do plot stories out.
This goes against what writers are taught. The ideas come to me. Or, rather, the people do. Usually it is just a scene. I'll think on it and soon the characters start speaking, telling me about themselves.
Sounds great, huh? 20 years ago, I had some way to control the traffic. Few were allowed in until I was finished with the current story. I have no clue how I did that.
When I decided to start writing again, I thought I would work on the 10+ awesome books I have written in my head the past 20 years. They are 90% complete, with a great cast. Now, as new ideas come flooding in, I am worried that I will die before I get them all down. I am in my late 40s after all.
But then I woke up one day with an idea that just would not leave. And it was Victorian! I barely read historicals! WTF was going on?
Now that I am back, deep into the world of Agnes and Dominic, I get another great idea. I even scribbled 2 pages of important info down at work yesterday. But it has to wait.
I just wish my imaginary friends were more patient and could wait their turn.
